So I was wondering that is there any way to overclock cpu in my laptop. It has good ssd, 8 gb of ram and not bad graphics card. But there's only one thing that make this laptop slow and thats CPU. I tried to get into bios but there was nothing to set. Same with programs like Intel Extreme Tuning Utility. I installed new os Manjaro but it didn't give me enough performance that i wanted. So I came here to ask you some questions:
Is it possible to change a cpu in that laptop
Is there any way to overclock that cpu ( I only overclocked amd platforms )
HP specs ( exactly HP-15-r222nw ):
2x4 gb 1333mhz
intel pentium n3540
nvidia 820M
some 256 ssd drive
It has good cooling and temperatures at load.
I use it only for fun but in future I planned to make it on this home server or a minecraft server with mods to play with friends

Laptops seldom support overclocking. Usually limited by the BIOS because of temperature issues. Pentium n3540 is even more restricted. It remains as it is.

You can try different options to improve performance. If changing the CPU isn't feasible, consider other methods to optimize its use.

No, the CPU cannot be altered. It uses a BGA1170 socket and is permanently attached to the motherboard.

What is its primary purpose?
For a 'home server', it's adequate. It mainly needs to handle media playback and sound, correct?

This setup isn't ideal for my Minecraft server. It struggles with more than five players, especially with 12 render distance and many mods. In this case, keeping the server on my overclocked FX-8300 would be better, though my PC isn't quiet enough to sleep near it and it consumes a lot of power.

Right.
That won't suffice as a minecraft server.
There's pretty much nothing you can do to it to increase performance. It is what it is.

The most suitable scenario for such a device seems to be limited to basic tasks on a Linux-based system or as a file server linked to external storage. I believe it would be more complicated than beneficial for that purpose, especially because it would require opening the lid or leaving it open continuously. For the Minecraft server, a budget office upgrade might be a better option.

It's already running on Linux, yet the performance differences between Windows 10 and Manjaro aren't considering boot speed and RAM usage. Should I attempt to test it on Windows XP or 7? Is there any benefit in using a more older operating system?

For XP, unless you upgrade to a 64bit version, you'll miss out on most of the 8GB RAM. And 64bit XP isn't as supported as the 32bit one. Win 7 wouldn't perform any better than Win 10, and it's unlikely there are compatible drives for it, particularly with touchpad and video features. Of course, these older operating systems lack security updates. Sorry, but this is the current situation. A basic laptop that works well for browsing the web and watching movies.

It is crucial to remember that the budget approach mentioned was the solution at hand in 2014. Before being packaged, it was not viable technically.
