Rtx pro 6000 and Rtx 5090 are identical chips except for core counts and VRAM capacity. The 6000 features all 24,064 cores, 96GB VRAM, and a 512-bit data bus, while the 5090 has 21,760 cores and 32GB VRAM. Both share the same architecture. Workstation cards differ, but in the Blackwell generation this mainly affects VRAM, which supports more workstation-focused applications.

Should that minor 14% advantage and extra memory justify the $8000 price gap, or are there other factors making the Pro 6000 five times pricier?

Yeah, you're exactly right. There will still be solid software created well. It just felt a bit distant in my thoughts about how things are handled today, mostly within the realm of software development. Programmers usually aren't clever enough to optimize code, shrink it, or speed it up significantly. They tend to prioritize getting it to run, often adding unnecessary code and making operations that consume far more space and resources than necessary. Most lack the skill or motivation to do so effectively, while those who do are often sidetracked by profit motives rather than efficiency. Small minds trying to manage the big ones.

There are some checks and tests that ensure the structure remains intact, but these are just the smallest shield against the risk of completely unoptimized software that merely functions.

Things should have been more stable and well-crafted, yet that's the current situation.
