Hello everyone, I’m about to share the configuration I’m planning. I have an Intel Core i7 4790K, previously owned an i7 6700K, and now plan to upgrade with 16 GB Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR3-1600 RAM, an Asrock H97 Pro4 1150, and a K-series processor. My current graphics card is a GTX 970, but I intend to upgrade it later. I’m using a 16 GB Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR3-1600 RAM and an Asrock H97 Pro4 1150. I understand you can’t overclock the mainboard, but since I don’t want to, it doesn’t matter. I chose a K-series because it runs noticeably faster than non-K versions (4.00 GHz vs 3.6 GHz). My SSD is a Samsung 850 PRO 256GB WD Blue 1TB, paired with a Corsair Air 540 case. I have a Power 10 500W PSU with Corsair H100i V2 water cooling, mainly for aesthetics.

My monitor is a DELL U2515H at 1440p with a 60 Hz refresh rate. I’m comfortable with 60 fps at that resolution. However, with this setup—especially for a high school student—I want to ensure smooth performance in demanding games like Star Citizen, GTA V, and Battlefield 1 at maximum settings in 1440p with 60 fps. What are your thoughts on this build? Will it meet my needs?

A few intense, high-stakes titles struggle like Crysis 3, but the rest should perform exceptionally well when fully optimized.

The 980ti delivers an average of 100fps in BF1 1440p. Your 60fps performance will be completely fine here. And SC, keep an eye on its release in 5-6 years.
