System unexpectedly powers off; motherboard, RAM, and power button remain active.
Hey there, I’m trying to figure out a tricky issue that’s really getting to me. I built my fiancée’s PC in November 2021, and everything worked perfectly at first. But over the past couple of months, it’s started behaving strangely—random shutdowns while she’s streaming Netflix, saving files, browsing, or even just idling. The motherboard light stays on, RAM lights flicker, and the power button remains active. It doesn’t power down normally; it just keeps running. I thought it might have entered sleep or hibernate mode, but that didn’t happen. Pressing the keyboard or mouse doesn’t wake it up, and the power button doesn’t respond when pressed. The only way to get it back on is to switch it off via the PSU button, restart, and then press the power button again. Once that works, everything functions normally until it crashes again. I’ve already turned off hibernate and sleep mode, but nothing helps. It’s making no noise or beep—just a sudden shutdown. I’m really hoping someone can help me troubleshoot this. Thanks!
Best, Paul
