System unexpectedly powers down or freezes without warning.
Hello everyone, I'm dealing with a persistent problem on my PC that I'm trying to figure out if it's hardware or software-related. My computer frequently shuts down or freezes, especially during gameplay. Removing either of my two RAM modules resolves the issue temporarily, and after reinstalling the RAM it functions normally again—until the problem recurs. Recently, this has become more frequent, particularly while playing games. Previously, it occurred only occasionally every few months. I'm considering a Windows driver or update issue or possible hardware instability, but I'm not sure. Have others experienced something similar? Any advice on troubleshooting would be greatly appreciated.
When playing games, high temps appear often, which might mean a cooling issue.
The temps are fine if it was a temp issue the pc should boot after a 5-10 min but is doesn't boot untill rams are reseated.
When it used to occur occasionally, it seems unrelated to a software patch. Now it feels like a slow decline in hardware performance. If a fix was released, it would have appeared abruptly and consistently, regardless of workload size. It doesn’t trigger a full shutdown, just freezing or errors within the operating system. A restart should work without needing hardware fixes. Recently increasing in frequency, particularly during demanding operations, suggests hotter conditions worsening cooling issues that were less noticeable in cooler weather. Other activities that lead to total system failure are not mentioned here.
It only occurred yesterday while watching YouTube. My PC shut down suddenly, then booted up without RAM being seated. After a few minutes it displayed a BSOD but then restarted. It hasn’t fully shut down yet. If this happens again, I’ll record a video and upload it here.
