System unexpectedly powering off during mining operations.
I typically use Nicehash to warm up my room while I’m not using my laptop. When the computer is mining, it sometimes powers down unexpectedly—either after a few hours or within minutes. This happens when the fans increase and then drop back down, followed by a restart. Once it restarts, all fans stay running slowly. When I log back in, it feels like I just turned it on again. I haven’t experienced any crashes while actively using the PC. My system is set to never shut off. Here are my details: Windows 11 build 22581.ni_release.220318-168 (though issues continued before this update) -ROG Strix 580 8GB(stock) -Ryzen 5 3600(stock) -32 gig's or Trident Z Neo 3600mhz RAM(stock) -Aorus X570 Elite Wifi -Thermaltake Toughpower Grand RGB 750W 80+ Gold
I've experienced the same problem since December 21. It doesn't depend on whether it's CPU or GPU mining—could last anywhere from 30 seconds to 30 hours. The screen turns black and the PC sometimes stays in a standby mode or shuts down slowly. I'm not using NH, but Awesome Miner is installed, which runs different mining programs.
I almost faced the same problem you mentioned, but it involved gaming and mining with PhoenixMiner. My fix might not work, but my case had a short in the power/reset buttons on my machine. I’m still unsure if it was the cables or the board itself—once I unplugged power and reset the switches, everything worked perfectly. No unexpected shutdowns or strange restarts, just consistent uptime. Maybe worth trying, though. Outside of that, checking Event Viewer for any fatal errors could help. If none are found or they relate to "unexpected power loss," tracking temperatures or replacing components like the PSU might be useful. Also, slow spinning fans (unless they’re just lingering from previous activity) could indicate a motherboard issue. Random power drops can be tricky to diagnose.
