System unexpectedly halted during gameplay.
I recently upgraded my PC to an ITX case and while playing games I've encountered unexpected restarts. The event logs display Event ID 41 (Kernel-Power). I replaced the motherboard, power supply, case, and added an AIO cooler, yet everything remains stable compared to my previous build. My system runs a Ryzen 5800x with a Gigabyte 3070 Crucial RAM module of 16GB. I'm uncertain if the issue lies with the motherboard or the PSU, as I purchased a new cooler master PSU from Amazon and acquired a second-hand motherboard from eBay. Additionally, I've struggled to register my new PSU with Cooler Master, which has prevented me from testing alternatives. Any suggestions or explanations would be very helpful.
I don't have my previous power supply unit anymore, which means I can't proceed with this. However, thank you for your assistance.
Initially I considered power handling issues, with the motherboard or power supply being the most probable causes.
The temperatures stayed around 70-80°C. I'm wondering if the PSU is the problem. I plan to do a complete rebuild and check if that resolves the issue, or maybe switch to a new motherboard. I've been considering upgrading the CPU for some time, but it seems this might be the push I need. Thanks!
I've rebuilt my PC and started CS2 to check for ongoing issues. The problem persisted. Event ID 41 occurred, then the PC restarted with a blue screen due to a Hypervisor Error. The Event Viewer displayed event ID 46 indicating a fatal memory hardware error. It might be worth replacing the memory to see if that resolves it, or you could consider swapping out the motherboard and CPU since you're planning to upgrade to DDR5.
