Hello. I just got a new CPU (AMD Ryzen 5 5600) and attempted to upgrade from my old one (AMD Ryzen 5 2600). Everything worked until I tried to power on the PC. It started but the fans were spinning too fast and the screen didn’t turn on (the monitor was connected). After some troubleshooting, I switched back to my current CPU and the system booted up, though the screen remained black and the fans weren’t running at full speed. I also tried using a friend’s GPU, which didn’t help either. I’m confused about what might be wrong. Could it be that I damaged the motherboard? My motherboard is an Asus Prime B45m-a, and I’ve updated the BIOS to support the new CPU. The system has the Nvidia RTX 2070.

Check the CMOS battery for a fast verification. Edit: Noted you mentioned testing the BIOS.

Did you change your BIOS settings during the installation of the new CPU?
