Hello, I recently purchased an AMD RX 6800XT Powercolor Red Devil and am facing some issues. I connected the GPU but it doesn’t show anything, not even a post. Since the Windows Startup Sound is enabled, I can still hear the chime on my headphones. I’ve tried several fixes: switching cables, monitors, resetting BIOS, adjusting PCIe speed to 3.0, resetting RAM, updating the motherboard BIOS, and using both OC and Silent VBIOS. The GPU isn’t new, and the seller mentioned needing a 850W power supply for it to function properly. My CPU is an AMD Ryzen 7 2700X (which will likely cause bottlenecks), the motherboard is Asrock B450 Steel Legend PSU, and the system runs on a God knows NJoy Woden 750W power supply. It’s frustrating because there’s no image at all, but I still hear the startup sound. Any suggestions?
Did you perform the GPU upgrade without any drivers for the RX 6800 XT? Based on my experience, some GPUs have worked fine after installation. I once encountered a blank screen that needed time to appear. Eventually, Windows showed up. Other GPUs upgraded smoothly without issues. Adding a new GPU without drivers could cause delays in showing anything. It might help to wait and let it display naturally. A 750 watt PSU should provide sufficient power for that GPU. Once everything is set, you may need to use DDU to remove the old GPU.
the gpu remains functional. a power problem won’t be obvious until you stress it, but if it doesn’t work, check with someone familiar to confirm its operation.
You might notice a blank screen that appears slowly. It’s completely typical. Allow it to rest for a while. When necessary, purchase an additional 6+2 pin power cable.
What model of GPU did you use before? There might be driver conflicts that aren't fully cleared. If you still have the old GPU and have a spare PCIe slot in your motherboard, attempt to install both cards using the new one in the secondary slot. Check if your system detects it in gpu-z and the hardware/device section. This can confirm whether the issue is just a dead device.
