I was guiding my PC through the setup for Windows 11 by turning on TPM and Sevure boot. The TPM functioned properly. When setting up Secure Boot, I encountered some problems. My Gigabyte Aorus B450 Pro WiFi requires disabling CSM support first—amd Secure Boot appeared as an option. After resetting, the system would return to BIOS during boot. I attempted to revert the BIOS to its prior version, and Windows started normally. Now TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot are once again disabled. Anyone have experience with this issue? I’m worried about repeating the process if I make a mistake. Also, the Secure Boot requirement for Windows 11 seems to be a recent change.

Use the search bar to look up BIOS settings, it should display UEFI. If it shows Legacy, you’ll need to reinstall Windows.

Check if your Windows version uses UEFI. If it's an older setup, turning off CSM prevents it from starting. You'd need to use a USB drive and reinstall the OS, possibly changing the drive format because older installs use MBR instead of GPT. Also, any legacy hardware won't work without CSM enabled. What else is your system configured with?

Everything seems fine unless the optical drive is extremely old, which I doubt. Have you checked your installation type?

I assembled the system in January... couldn’t locate a GPU for clear reasons, so I checked eBay and discovered a 1070 in great shape for $210... Never exceeded 65°C during heavy use.

Currently not finished—I'm actually focusing on college applications right now, just a moment!

It came from a Windows Vista system. Chose it for its features and a sense of old-school charm.

The process is tied to legacy settings. It’s possible to reinstall Windows while preserving your files, but formatting may be required for the conversion.

It seems the existing system can be converted, though I haven’t tried before. Check this out. But currently only the disk partition table is being updated—I’m not sure about other changes in the Windows setup. If you switch the drive to GPT format and Windows fails afterward, you might use a USB drive to reinstall while preserving data. I recommend having a backup drive ready with the Microsoft Media Creation Tool before proceeding. Overall, a fresh install is usually a smart move when making such adjustments.
