i've been using my computer for a while with a missing capacitor on the motherboard, but it hasn't caused any problems until recently. I was using a vc 600 corsair power supply, then my friend gave me his cx750f that he wasn’t using. I connected it to my system and it started up briefly before shutting down. The problem began after installing the 750-watt power supply; it stopped working completely. I checked all connectors and ensured everything was properly plugged in. My computer was functioning normally right before I swapped it in. The rgb lighting on both the motherboard and power supply still lit up. Please share any suggestions for resolving this issue.
I question if the missing cap is the problem since you're using it without it. A different PSU likely wouldn't cause issues with that cap. Someone more experienced could offer another view. If everything functions with your old PSU, the newer one might be the cause. Try booting with just the 750W, connecting only the essentials—motherboard 24-pin and CPU 4/8 pin—see if it starts up.
