GPU : GIGABYTE RX7800XT - Driver 23.10.01.10 CPU : Ryzen 7 3700x - Chipset 5.08.02.027 Motherboard : ASRock Fatal1ty X470 Gaming K4 - BIOS P4.90 RAM : Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 PSU : Corsair TX750M Gold 750 W 80+ Gold OS : Windows 11 Pro - 10.0.22631 Build 22631 Issue : Until now only with MWIII, after roughly an hour of gaming my PC shuts down. My screens turn black and it takes about 5 seconds before the boot screen appears. In Windows Event viewer I see these WHEA-Logger messages... A fatal hardware error has occurred. Reported by component: Processor Core Error Source: Machine Check Exception Error Type: Cache Hierarchy Error Processor APIC ID: 4 So far this has occurred twice, once today and once yesterday. The errors are logged in pairs. In the screenshot above it APIC ID 4 and 10. The first time it was APIC ID 2 and 13. The only change in my system is the GPU, which I purchased about a month ago. Anyone know what might be wrong? What I've tried: let MemTest run 4 times, but no errors appeared. Same with Prime95. My CPU has never been overclocked. XMP isn't enabled for the RAM. The GPU hasn't been overclocked either.

I don't understand if those WHEA errors match WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR messages. However, WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR clearly indicates a problem with your CPU or RAM. I can't be certain, but seeing Zen 2 CPUs fail unexpectedly online isn't unusual.

Typical RAM speeds might need adjustment. Your new GPU is stressing your CPU and RAM more than expected. The Corsair LXP seems to be the most affected type with Ryzen chips. Try increasing voltage, relaxing timings, or lowering speed to check if the problem resolves.

99.99% it's your RAM, just test some lesser-known options available. Vengeance and Ryzen often cause problems, it's a common issue.

It's essentially identical. WHEA tracks CPU and PCIe devices, not RAM directly. It examines the CPU's logs to detect issues. Using RAM faster than the recommended limits from AMD/Intel can trigger this, usually due to overclocking the memory controller. The suggested speed is typically lower than XMP settings. @victor6946 The WHEA event points to the CPU. Disable any overclocking or underclocking, especially XMP/DOCP speeds above 3200MT/s.

CPU has been operating normally since purchase, no overclocking or underclocking performed. XMP settings are currently off, yet restarts continue.

The processor is the primary concern. Have you turned off Precision Boost Overdrive in the BIOS settings?

Checked BIOS settings and changed Precision Boost Overdrive to DISABLED. It’s not the same as AUTO. Stress testing with 3DMark appears to cause reboots, so I’ll run that now.

I kept everything set to Auto/Default in the BIOS. The memory speed is already at 2667MHz. If the problem stems from the new GPU, upgrading to the latest CPU that fits your motherboard (still AM4) might help. Changing the memory type could also be an option.

Can we be certain it's just memory issues, not the CPU? I was wondering this because @Bjoolz seems to believe the CPU is the main problem.
