Hello everyone,

Thank you for taking the time to read my message. I’m not entirely new to computers—I’ve tried various troubleshooting methods and checked CPU and GPU temperatures. I’m unsure which logs you might want to review, so I’ll share a follow-up later, perhaps using tools like Event Viewer.

Setup details:
- MSI z970 Tomahawk WIFI
- 13700KF overclocked to 5.2ghz P core and Ecore 44ghz
- Corsair H150i
- MSI 4090 Gaming X
- 2x16GB G.Skill X Trident
- Corsair 1000RM
- Storage: 2x 2TB 980 Pro Samsung

I assembled the system in August, encountering some driver problems and general instability (games crashing). However, it wasn’t a complete crash until October. I let it sit for about a week before installing Starfield. After that, issues began with Starfield, followed by frequent crashes to the desktop during gaming sessions. Now I’m experiencing random crashes, freezing screens, and system lights stopping even though the PC remains on.

I’ve turned off GameBoost in MSI BIOS, returned the core to stock, but the problem persists—randomly underloading during idle or heavy load, sometimes lasting hours. Watching YouTube videos can trigger sudden freezes.

Things to note:
- Disabling GameBoost and reverting core caused intermittent issues.
- The crashes happen randomly, without a set timeframe.
- Sometimes it lasts for hours while I watch videos, then it restarts after 30 minutes to several hours.

Event Viewer observations:
There are two events before shutdown related to kernel power issues (see screenshots below).

Image from Event Viewer
Event details before crash:
ACPI thermal zone _TZ.TZ00 has been enumerated.
_PSV = 0K
_TC1 = 0
_TC2 = 0
_TSP = 0ms
_AC0 = 353K
_AC1 = 328K
_AC2 = 323K
_AC3 = 318K
_AC4 = 313K
_AC5 = 0K
_AC6 = 0K
_AC7 = 0K
_AC8 = 0K
_AC9 = 0K
_CRT = 378K
_HOT = 0K
minimum throttle = 0
_CR3 = 0K

Could anyone help identify the cause or suggest a solution? I plan to disassemble and reassemble the system this weekend as a last resort before considering an RMA. I’d appreciate any advice from others who might have encountered similar problems. Thanks!

Problem resolved apparently. Rebuilt and cleared CMOS, using identical settings—everything is working fine.
Issue persists, it keeps happening. Likely the CPU is faulty; I performed a full cycle before shutdown, and voltage readings remained stable and normal. The event also occurred multiple times without causing a shutdown. Very strange and bothersome.
