I recently purchased a gaming setup with these details: CPU - Ryzen 5900X, GPU - PNY XLR8 3080TI, RAM - TeamGroup T-Force Vulcan Z Series 8GBx2, Motherboard - Asrock B550 ITX/AC, Case/PSU/Cooler - Cooler Master NR200P, OS - Windows 11 version 22H2. Over the past few days it operated smoothly without any issues, but suddenly it began crashing and rebooting randomly during gameplay. This only occurred while playing games, not all of them. Running other apps or stress tests like Blender or Cinebench didn’t trigger crashes despite heavy usage. However, when I performed a RAM+Cache+CPU+GPU stress test via AIDA64, the system remained stable until I stopped the test, at which point it crashed immediately. It doesn’t fail for every game—such as Valorant or FIFA—but experiences instability with titles like Ghost Recon Wildlands, Atomic Heart, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Battlefield 2042. Additionally, before a crash, the screen would briefly flicker for about a second before the PC shut down. I’ve updated the BIOS, verified GPU/CPU/RAM placement, and installed the latest drivers, but nothing resolved the problem. I’m quite frustrated and would appreciate any insights. Thanks!

I suspect the PSU isn’t suited for the 3080TI, it doesn’t list specs on the site, and I don’t think it’s a top-tier 850W SFX unit. Please verify the PSU model or test it by reducing the CPU’s power usage as much as possible.

I started with the same idea but it runs smoothly in other programs such as Blender, where GPU and CPU usage stays near 100% for 10 to 15 minutes.

The core problem involves brief voltage surges, the blender consumes power steadily, yet gaming demands fluctuating energy use based on rendering complexity. This suggests the sudden spikes might activate the OCP protection in the power supply.

I'm facing the same problem with my 6700xt. My friend suggested the PSU might be the cause. I currently use an Enermax Revolution DF 650w. (Note: The only workaround I discovered was forcing the power button all the way until it shut off and back on.) Playing the game that crashed worked once, but restarting another caused it to shut down. I'm unsure if that's a safe habit to continue.

This appears to be an issue with your R5 3600 paired with the RX5600XT setup. It causes blackouts and crashes only during gaming, not in regular stress tests, benchmarks, or non-gaming CPU-heavy work. After the event, WHEA-Logger logs a Cache Hierarchy error (18). Check your Event Viewer for similar entries. This crash only occurs when using specific GPUs like RX580 or RX550—see if replacing them resolves the problem. If you don’t have another GPU, consider getting one from a store or friend.

Have you possibly adjusted the voltage or overclocked the card in any way? I faced similar issues when I was undervolting my 3080ti, thinking it was stable but experiencing occasional crashes. The 3080ti can draw up to 400W (sometimes more) at its peak. If that isn’t true, others have pointed fingers at the power supply unit. By the way, are you connecting the cables in a chain for the GPU and using two cables for three of the eight pin connectors? That means you’re using two connections on the same cable for two of those pins? I’d suggest running three separate cables if this is the case.
