I'm feeling quite frustrated right now. I'll try to describe what's happening and when things began. Windows 64 CPU - Ryzen 9 5950x (not overclocked) started fine. I used a quiet cooler, but the build didn't last long. After switching to the Odyssey monitor, crashes started. Initially, it worked well with a poor IPS screen that had a slow response. The issues began after upgrading to the Odyssey. I can compare the two scenarios based on my previous gaming settings: 1080p at 60 FPS consistently, smooth performance without any freezes or throttling. After switching to the Odyssey 144hz QHD, the situation changed drastically. The graphics would crash after just a few minutes, freezing the screen and forcing a reboot. In both cases, the CPU temperatures soared while the GPU stayed hot. My thoughts: I think my cooler is not strong enough, and my GPU isn't handling the load well. There seems to be some software issue that forces the GPU to take over. Possible fixes: upgrade the GPU or get a better cooler for my white build. I'd prefer a more stable setup for games like Overwatch 2 without crashes or overheating. Thanks, Max.
This setup seems quite unusual. Did you recently install the AM4 processor in mid-2023? Also, the combination of a 5950X and a 3060 Ti doesn't seem balanced. Would you consider an alternative route?
Can't offer anything else except this build works fine. I'm looking for a solution that keeps it as is or only adds the least upgrades, since I have no budget limits but don't want to rebuild everything. For example, getting a new GPU and cooler together would be ideal. Or pairing a good CPU with a suitable GPU and cooler? That seems like the best balance.
Checking the temperatures for the GPU and CPU. Your setup seems to be a 5950x stock running on an AK400, which should handle Dark Rock well. Are you using a 4x16GB RAM configuration?
I have limited understanding so it's hard to follow everything. I usually see 0x00000124 and logger errors during crashes. My setup is a quiet Be quiet! Pure Base window 500 with two 14mm fans (two inputs, one output). It has a 32GB memory kit at 3600MHz. The 3060 is brand new. I don't know the power consumption. The monitor and PC are on a power strip connected via a long cable to an old outlet. The GPU runs around 60-70°C, CPU around 70-80°C, but I'm not sure if it gets hotter to 100°C during throttling. When the PC restarts, the fans spin up quickly like Dominic Toretto.
I believed the issue came from the poor wall outlet and power strip, so I replaced them with new ones, separating the PC and monitor, no power strip. Played Overwatch 2 at 1080p with a cap on 166 fps and ultra graphics using the Gigabyte Vision RTX 3060 Ti. It crashed and restarted after about 15 minutes. After rebooting, I encountered critical kernel errors (70368744177664, 2) and a memory error (0x8000400000000002). Additionally, there was a simple memory error reported by WHEA-Logger Machine Check Exception 0x8000000000000000.
