I've faced this peculiar issue recently. I set up Ubuntu on a laptop for a friend, and it worked well with the Wi-Fi card. We abandoned Linux in favor of Windows. The problem started when I tried installing Windows, which triggered a GPT HDD format error. I used the usual fix—shift F10 and format via DiskPart. Now, during the process, the OS gets wiped clean. It won’t recognize my Windows installation USB anymore. The same happens with Linux Mint; it shows a PXE-E61 Media test failure. Please check the cable first, then follow the PXE exit steps. Interestingly, it still displays a Ubuntu install and Live USB, but as expected, it won’t read Mint or Windows USBs, even though they’re the same device. (I’m using the same USB for both.)

Clean your drive during setup and proceed with the install, and it will function correctly.

I did that when I switched to Mint on the same USB. The creator tool offers a fat32 format, but it works fine with other systems too. I’m making another Mint stick on a different USB I have. I’ll get back to you in about 15 minutes.

It seems like you're checking the time. It's been 21 hours since we last spoke.

Hey, I'm back. As a night creature, my sense of time is a bit off. After switching the USB, it seems to boot into Ubuntu again (I reinstalled it), but instead of the usual setup, I just see the Ubuntu logo followed by black. Not sure what's happening. I was thinking a fresh install might fix the boot issue.
