System performance problems.
I created a budget gaming setup roughly two and a half months ago. The components include a CPU model R5 5600X paired with an RTX 4060 M.2 graphics card, a WD Blue SN580 M.2 SSD, a Gigabyte A520M K V2 motherboard (not the optimal choice but fitting the budget), a Be Quiet! power supply, and a 550W Bronze rated PSU. I performed stress tests on the CPU and GPU using Cinebench and Furmark, both without overheating. The system passed all checks, including an OCCT power test that showed no errors or crashes. Drivers were updated to rule out any issues. However, I’ve noticed some stuttering lately. Initially, I thought it was caused by the games—Elder Scrolls Online, Sekiro, and Elden Ring are known for this. I played Sekiro with loading stutters and Elden Ring experienced random frame drops around 10 FPS. In Tekken 8, fight lounge often causes heavy loading and stuttering. Witcher 3 also triggers stutters during combat. I’m unsure if these are just my expectations or actual problems. The PSU makes a high-pitched noise even when the PC is off, but OCCT testing didn’t reveal any crashes or power issues. In HWINFO, there’s a power reporting deviation issue that dropped performance to 80%.
I think the VRM is limiting performance due to the low-cost board lacking a heatsink and paired with a high-wattage CPU. Keep an eye on VRM temperatures, CPU speed, and power usage using HWinfo.
I haven't updated the newest bios yet, so I'm hesitant. Could this affect performance?
