System performance is affected by excessive RAM usage.
Hey there! Your situation sounds a bit puzzling. With a 4-month-old PC and 16GB of Corsair Vengeance Pro RAM, reaching 85% usage in the morning and only about 470MB for your user space in the evening seems unusual. It’s possible the system is using a lot of background processes or memory management features. Check if there are any updates, drivers, or background apps running. If it’s still high, consider clearing cache or checking for malware. Let me know what you find! Thanks!
You can check which program uses the most system resources by opening the Task Manager.
You've exported tasks to a CSV and combined them in Excel. It appears the data reflects roughly one-third of what Task Manager displays. The RAM usage chart shows 7GB used, and your user profile lists 1GB. Based on your export, the calculated RAM usage is 2.3GB.
Do you run Windows 7 or 8? On Windows 8, launch the Task Manager and check the "Memory" section. Under that, you'll see details about each running program's memory usage. On Windows 7, go to the "Details" tab in the Task Manager and examine the memory column. If it's missing, right-click the columns and choose "Select Columns." A panel will appear with an option to check "Memory (Private working set)." It might help you identify programs that use a lot of memory or have leaks, so you can uninstall them.
Additionally, it might not be operating under your account. Executing the task manager with admin privileges will display all system processes.
If you're running Windows 8.1, there is a Memory dump issue, that nothing leaves your RAM, it just fills it up, and has to be restarted to clear it. No prcesses actually show as using much, but in the overall, it shows at nearly fully used up 85-99%. This is an intermittent problem, and microsoft are putting a fix together
The problem stems from a memory leak in a driver, which isn't visible in Task Manager.
Do you own an Asus Mobo on your setup? I found some more details suggesting a connection to AISuite, and I plan to investigate further after returning home.
