Windows 10 X64 Intel® Core™ i9-9900K Sapphire R9 390 MPG Z390 Gaming Plus BIOS version/date - (American Megatrends Inc. 1.B0, 8/12/2020) G.Skill F4-3000C16-8GTRS (2 x 8GB sticks) 750G+ EVGA PSU WDC WDS500G2B0A-00SM50 (500 GB SSD - boot drive, also where the games are saved) ST1000DM010-2EP102 (1TB HDD). The graphics card on my brother's machine failed, so I brought one over for him to use while he saved up for a replacement. It was in good condition when I handed it over and came in nicely packed with padding. All checks were done using the NZXTcam app. When I powered on the computer (confirming the monitor connected to the GPU, not the motherboard), everything appeared normal. However, during gameplay certain titles would freeze or crash. The games that stopped were: Star Wars Squadrons – crashed every time at startup; 4 – played briefly before stopping; Ancestors – played a few minutes smoothly but crashed once or twice; Helldivers – occasional crashes; KOTOR 2 – generally played, with brief interruptions; Aliens Colonial Marines – intermittent issues; Deep Rock Galactic – occasional freezes; and Project Wingman – stopped after startup. Running the system monitor showed CPU usage spiking to 97-100% during intro, with temperatures in the low 40s. CPU stayed around 45-50% load while RAM was at 45-50%. GPU performance dropped below 20%. After launching the game, CPU usage fell sharply, GPU usage rose to 70%, and the system shut down. A second attempt produced similar results: CPU reached 100%, GPU never exceeded 70%, and temperatures peaked at 76°C. With the new GPU I could successfully play Cyberpunk, Deep Rock Galactic, and Project Wingman without problems. My CPU is weaker, but RAM and PSU specs match the new unit. I've already tried reseating RAM, changing slots, updating drivers, etc. I'm nearly exhausted on troubleshooting and plan to send him some extra RAM sticks and a bootable Windows installation to test. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you. Please let me know if I missed anything important in this update."

Ensure your driver is current. Verify if any updates are available and consider using the "clean install" feature before applying it. If you possess the newest driver, you may wish to uninstall it with DDU (display driver uninstaller) and then reinstall. Disable any monitoring or RGB software, restart the computer, and attempt to launch games again. Certain applications can be unstable, leading to crashes and blue screens. Search for your specific RAM model online and assess whether further adjustments are needed beyond setting the XMP profile. Personally, I encountered both RAM voltage and software conflicts simultaneously.

Thank you for your message. The GPU driver was already removed and reinstalled several times without success. There were no RGB software options available, and the problem started before any monitoring tools were used. I searched for the RAM details on the computer’s specifications but didn’t find specific product info for the model mentioned. I suggest checking the purchase records and reading customer reviews to identify the issue. Let me know if you need further assistance.
