I've observed significant and abrupt slowdowns during downloads of large files such as game updates. Since my SSD isn't extremely fast, I'm unsure why every time I perform these downloads it reaches full usage quickly. Everything from opening tabs in Chrome to chatting on Discord freezes and becomes very sluggish. Could you provide any insights into what might be causing this issue with my SSD? My system specs are: R5 5600x, RTX3060, Gigabyte Gaming X V2, 16GB RAM at 3600MHz, crucial BX500 1TB SATA SSD.

Its a BX500, meaning no Dram on the SSD. It can be fine during daily use, but the SLC cache can be overwhelmed during sequential writes.

Windows handles TRIM and garbage collection itself, so you need little effort. Use Crystal Disk Info or Crucial's SSD tool to review SMART status if needed. It’s wise to keep your SSD below 80% full. Ideally, use a dedicated faster SSD for the operating system.

Sandisk matches Samsung in performance, and it has been acquired by Western Digital.

If that's the problem, it will definitely make the PC run slower (based on my experience with budget solid-state drives). The MX500 is a much better option—just a bit more money (and some extra cache).
