Details: CPU model Ryzen 9 7900x, GPU 4070ti Super Gigabyte windforce max, RAM 32gb DDR5-5200, motherboard MSI B650 Gaming plus wifi, power supply Corair rm850e. I have a problem with my PC. A few days ago I accidentally connected a USB-C cable to a USB A port. The computer shut down instantly and wouldn’t turn on again until I cycled the PSU (presumably over-current protection?). After that it worked fine. The next day trying to open file explorer would freeze and required a restart. This issue seems to have resolved itself. A persistent problem is random BSODs—rare, about 1 or 2 per day. My CPU runs hot at 75°C during idle (normally around 50°C or less), and during a Cinebench test I got a BSOD. The .dmp file mentioned "DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (9f)". I found someone describing my case closely, except for the file explorer issue. Sorry if this is hard to understand (my second language). Please let me know if anything is unclear.

Sure, I can help with that. Send the .dmp file and verify the voltages using hwinfo.

Yeah, it could pose some privacy or security concerns.

Open WinDbg or WhoCrashed to diagnose the issue.

I've already tried that. What I really grasp is DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (9f) with these details: Argument 1 is 0000000000000003. The device has been holding an IRP too long. This is related to the stack's physical device object, and on Windows 7 or newer, it points to the functional device object. If it weren't for this issue, the system would handle it differently. No idea what the blocked IRP actually means.

I've been there before. What's new? It looks odd how a CPU stays hot even when idle just because of a sudden power cut. It should reset like my system did.
