Hey there, so I have an older gaming PC with an i3-6100 and a GeForce 1050 Ti. It’s been struggling with low FPS lately, even after cleaning malware and adjusting settings. My GPU usage is only around 35% in CSGO and about 50% in other games, which isn’t great. I see people getting smooth 180 FPS on similar specs while I’m stuck at ~120 on a lower resolution. Changing the settings doesn’t really help much. I’ve tried boosting my NVIDIA power settings, but nothing works. Also, I noticed others with the same GPU get around 90% in CSGO. My CPU usage is between 65-75%, and I’d like that to be higher too. RAM usage is close to 6GB, and the cores are hopping between 65-75%. Anything you think about improving performance?

1280x1024? You don’t need anything at 60fps, why are you even asking?

My CSGO runs smoothly at 1280x1024, which slightly stretches the models but improves hit accuracy. For other games I use 1920x1080, but since my monitor is 144Hz, I aim for a minimum of 144 frames per second.

It should likely assist in slightly increasing your RAM speed, and you can adjust it to 2400Mhz without any problems.

Someone might do that because there are restrictions in place—like a maximum of 120 or a screen limit—that prevent going beyond those numbers.

What's going on? It seems like the processor is struggling, probably due to insufficient RAM.

The only advantage is staying ahead in the competition. I’ve verified everything and can confirm there’s no FPS cap—on my screen, in the game, or even with NVIDIA settings. It worked well initially, but I encountered an issue a few months back. Occasionally it exceeds 120 FPS, sometimes reaching 180 for just a brief moment.

Thanks for the kind words! I’m sure overclocking your RAM won’t cause any issues.

You won’t handle the voltage directly, and reaching 2400Mhz is standard for most RAM modules due to JEDEC guidelines. Once you configure BIOS to 2400Mhz, install CPU-Z, check the Memory section, and ensure your CAS Latency (CL) stays under 14. For better speed, you can manually adjust memory timings if you aim for even higher performance, since a CL14 is already quite strong.
