It's been happening up to seven times, and the issue started after installing software or adjusting SMT settings (turning cores off/on, disabling CCD). No overclocking has occurred. After letting the system cool overnight, it returns to normal operation. Coming from an Intel CPU (6700k), I've managed to keep things stable for over three years without any crashes except for a virus incident after downloading an infected file. Otherwise, performance is excellent—3ds Max renders faster and maintains steady frame rates during games. Would anyone else have similar experiences? What steps should I take next? Asus Prime X570 Pro paired with AMD R9 3900X, Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 32GB at 3000MHz CL15, Asus Strix GTX 1080 A8G, Samsung 970 Pro 1TB, WD Black 2TB, Corsair RM750x and Noctua NH-D15. All components except the motherboard and CPU have functioned perfectly in the prior setup (Asus z170-a+6700k) over the last three years. The RAM model is also available on the motherboard QVL.
I've encountered a comparable issue - works flawlessly without XMP; crashes unpredictably after a restart when XMP is turned on. Apart from occasional freezes, it performs smoothly at full speed and boots cold. I've tested across three x570 boards, three 3600 DRAM sticks, and two different power supplies. I own two systems: an Asus Strix x570-F with G.Skill Trident Z NEO 3600 (2x16GB) and a Ryzen 3900X; another setup uses a Gigabyte x570-I Aorus with the same 3600X and 8GB RAM. I've never faced stability problems with the 3600X at 3600MHz, nor have I managed to get the 3900X reliable under those conditions. Swapping CPUs on one board resolved the problem, but the other kept freezing randomly. I've experimented with various settings like geardown procODT, RTT_Park, and DRAM voltage. It seems time to consider returning the CPU or seeking further help. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
