System issues in your smart home device.
Hello, It seems your smart devices in the house have stopped functioning properly lately. For instance, the Google lights and Alexa around the home are not responding at all. When I try to contact them, they become unresponsive as well. I can only reset the router, which then restarts everything until next week. Since my home is spread out, it’s possible the router isn’t covering the entire area. I’m getting consistent speeds through the router and on my computer, so it’s not a weak connection issue. Anyone have any ideas about what might be causing this? I really hope someone can help fix it. Thanks!
How much clutter exists on the network? My thought is you might be dealing with a lot of data trying to connect on 2.4GHz, which could be causing issues.
It seems like your network is struggling with too many devices connected. There are some temporary solutions you can try, but they won’t solve the core problem. Adding more access points can help reduce congestion elsewhere. Assigning fixed channel settings to certain IoT devices might also improve stability. Disabling unnecessary IoT equipment and turning off any Wi-Fi that isn’t in use can make a difference. The best long-term fix would be switching to a protocol like Zigbee or Wi-Fi Direct, which don’t rely on Wi-Fi. This confirms the issue is likely related to Wi-Fi usage. Your device will probably need to operate on a higher frequency band—like 5 GHz—which many IoT devices don’t support—and using that could ease the load.
WiFi performance is poor here. The speed I see is around 32mbps, which is the best I've noticed locally. Mostly there are five Wi-Fi devices, two smart plugs, and a switchbot.
