Hello, I'm back again... my new GPU is the 4070 Ti. I removed my previous one, a 6950 XT, and tried to boot up the PC. It started but didn't work, CMOS cleared didn't help, tried changing drives, nothing changed. I switched back to the 6950 XT. The system booted but then shut down, came back on after a few minutes, and stayed on for five seconds before turning off again. It seemed like the PC was dead. I moved it to the living room, plugged it into another outlet, and everything worked fine except for posting. All lights came on, fans spun, but no post appeared. I don't know what's happening—I changed the PSU, RAM, and now I'm testing the CPU. I'm confused about what just happened. I've been working on this since 3 pm, just plugging in a new GPU and everything got weird.
I followed the instructions and connected both PCIe cables into one for the GPU. I spent a lot of time switching GPUs and installing my old SSD with an OS to check if the problem was related to drivers or something else, but that didn't resolve it. I'm really confused about what might be causing this.
The i5-13600k includes integrated graphics. Is it possible to boot without a dedicated video card? Would you consider using a second power supply unit? Could you attempt a different PCIe slot for the video, even if it isn't the fastest option? I'm starting to think the memory might be failing.
I cannot start up with or without a GPU I connected directly into the MB, same issue occurs. I've used 4 cards.
My thermaltake 1200w power supply worked fine (only using the original cables, no mixes).
I'll test it in another slot to check.
I think the motherboard is also dead, so I'm taking it tonight.
I don't know what caused the failure—my surge protector failed too, and the PC won't work with it anymore.
I changed my 6950xt to a 4070 ti and have a 1000w Corsair PSU, but it seems it pulled too much power and destroyed the board.
