Hey! I recently purchased a decent but not top-tier PC. Let's tackle the issue. Several games that previously ran smoothly in medium and high settings at 60 fps now struggle significantly on low settings. For instance, Fallout 4 with many mods maintained steady 60 fps at medium, but on low without mods it drops to around 45 fps and varies between 35 and 45. Dying Light at high settings stayed stable at 60 fps, whereas it now only reaches about 45 fps. These are just a couple of games I can no longer play on PC. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

One of the mods was focused on optimization. Be mindful when evaluating mods versus no mods. Did the drop from 60 FPS to 45 affect only those two titles? Or are you unable to play more games beyond those two?

I didn't have optimization modes available. Dying Light's performance dropped from 55-60 to 35-45, while Fallout 4 sits around 30-45, though 45 is quite uncommon. I noted that two of the games I no longer play can run poorly or not at all, while others like The Witcher 3 (pre-update), Prey, Doom Eternal, Minecraft, PUB, Ark, Apex Legends, Call of Duty WW2 are still functional.

Have you cleaned your PC from the inside? Have you checked for any thermal or power problems? Did you update BIOS or power settings? Graphics Control Panel? Are Windows updates installed? What version of Windows are you using now? Knowing your PC’s specifications would be helpful.

All your points are typical, beginning with the moment I noticed a drop in performance. I checked everything from opening the PC to the current situation. The biggest change has been the rising temperatures, but that’s mainly due to the summer heat and a warmer room. As the weather cools down, the temperatures are now decreasing.
