You really need to reinstall Windows and add all the drivers from the beginning. Also, be careful—never use any automatic driver installer again.

Sure, it’s clear you’re asking about the consequences. If you proceed, will everything be erased along with your files? Since you haven’t installed anything yet, there should be no impact.

Windows already handles driver updates efficiently on most systems. If not, a fast driver installer could help since it’s proven to deliver drivers I can’t usually find. I’m not great at keeping drivers up to date, especially on older hardware where they’re harder to obtain. I tend to be slow on updates unless they notice performance issues. A quick installer takes care of most tasks, while I focus on installing chipset and graphics drivers that really matter for speed.

Backup crucial files to another drive or partition (like D:, ESmile. Then use the Windows Media Creation tool from Microsoft to burn Windows onto a USB drive and reinstall it. Format the C: drive during installation to erase everything, after which install from scratch.

I updated Windows and ended up with a significantly lower score. My friends' laptops also received the same result.

My response comes as a surprise. Setting up Windows and drivers usually takes a long time from the beginning. This leads me to think you might have reinstalled something incorrectly or haven’t updated enough.

I had everything ready beforehand in case no other option existed. My 8TB M.2 drive is quite fast. I downloaded the drives from AMD, NVIDIA and the motherboard website. Did I miss anything?

Following the reinstall, it's recommended to run Windows Update to obtain additional required drivers. Then look for DirectX, C++ and .NET Framework and install all of them.

Following a fresh install and adjusting drivers and settings in the NVIDIA control panel, I achieved a score near 15,000. Some builds using an 8-core setup with the 3090 managed higher scores around 20,000. Could there be other tips to improve this result? It seems the Threadripper is currently limiting performance for that configuration. Here are your results.
