System initiates shutdown or freeze, VGA illumination appears on the motherboard.
Hello everyone, I’m seeking help with my PC setup. This is my first attempt at building one, so I’ve learned a lot about cables and management. Everything seems to be in order after watching some build guides. I was able to turn it on and see the display work normally when removing the case. The main problem is that a red light on the motherboard lights up for the VGA port (I have a B650 Elite board). When I press delete or spam to start up BIOS, it sometimes freezes during startup or just doesn’t respond at all, showing the logo screen. I’ve tried reseating the GPU, rearranging RAM, ensuring all connections are tight, and even letting the CMOS battery sit for 15 minutes. If anyone has any tips or solutions, I’d really appreciate it—I’m ready to try previous fixes again just to make sure everything is working smoothly. Build specs: Ryzen 7700X CPU, Radeon 6950XT GPU, speedster merc319, Corsair DDR5 2x16GB RAM, placed in slots A1/A2 (2/4), Coolermaster Argb fans, Corsair 4000D airflow, Be Quiet Pure Rock, and a 2.0KHz case.
Prepare your project by concealing cables behind the motherboard tray. Review some tutorials on cable organization. This suggests the build video is nearing its conclusion. Concerning the GPU cable, consider using a single PCIE connector and avoid those with multiple pins. It might resolve your issue. Also verify proper insertion on the power supply side. The rear fan seems to be drawing air into the case; balance it by adjusting orientation. Generally, air should exit from front and bottom while entering from top and back for optimal ventilation.
