System halts upon startup.
when starting up, my computer becomes unresponsive during the MSI setup. sometimes it stalls repeatedly, loops indefinitely, freezes during automatic fixes, or crashes after a load and then turns black. this occurs every time I power it on after shutdown. the only solution that helped was repeatedly restarting it many times, which eventually allowed normal operation. currently, I avoid shutting it down or rebooting, but this isn’t practical anymore.
system details: samsung evo 2tb ssd, msi x570 motherboard, ripjaws 64gb, ddr4 ram (two 32gb modules), amd ryzen 5900 cpu.
tried various fixes: verifying drive health, updating drivers, reseating ram, changing ram type, clearing cmos battery, reinstalling bios, rebuilding components, and even installing windows on a new drive. none resolved the issue.
the only lasting fix is manually rebooting dozens of times, which is unsustainable. it now takes hours to get it working reliably.
i’m running out of options. this machine is becoming increasingly unreliable. it’s affecting my daily use, and I’m concerned it might be permanently damaged. i don’t have another computer or spare parts to test, and I’m unable to afford replacements. i need it functioning for work but it’s growing more frustrating each time it crashes unexpectedly.
update: sometimes it opens the “repair” window with three options—continue startup troubleshooting or turn off the pc—but both menus remain stuck.
This manual suggests actions I've already tried or can't carry out. I believe I went through it about three months ago when the issue began.
I'm stuck on the MSI loading screen. The spinning dots with the MSI logo during booting won't stop. I can't proceed past that stage. Booting into my PC is currently not possible. The only accessible menu is the MSI click bios 5 option, which lacks a safe mode feature. Sometimes I manage to enter repair mode, but it always freezes before I can interact. The time it didn't freeze had no safe mode either.
Remove the motherboard from the case. Leave the CPU, GPU, one RAM stick, and boot drive connected. Plug in the boot drive. Apply a short to the power pins using a screwdriver and try booting again. Observe if the issue persists.
