Alright so the 3900x is the CPU, running a 3090 and a 3080 on this machine. When I launch 40 Runescape clients, the mouse becomes sluggish, the computer freezes, and even with the 3090 the fans on the 3080 spin up while losing display signal. This happens when mining too, only under heavy GPU load. I tried it with a 6600xt and it’s extremely laggy with 40 clients open, but it stays stable at 100% load despite using 400 watts. My 3900x was around 97% usage, and the problem seems to worsen when CPU load goes over 50%. All this started after a Windows update—it’s frustrating since my dual-core and 9600GT/9800GT didn’t have these issues before. They just wouldn’t open unless something was wrong. I’m wondering why the display stops working and why the GPU spins its fans even when not in use.

You can reverse your Windows update if you believe it's the problem.

it’s hard to figure out what to do, isn’t it? if you press to launch 40 clients, the mouse acts weird—slow and then stops working. i checked the gpu power and it stayed between 150 and 300 watts. the cpu voltage stays around 1.4 to 1.5, with usage jumping from 15 to 55%. gpu temps hover near 60, which seems normal. ram usage is about 50%, and i’m using a 750 watt psu that’s been running smoothly for years. my 3080 and 6600xt both have a 750 watt psu, while the 3900x and 3090 use separate ones. ram temps are at 81%, and the 3090 runs at .65 volts at idle, peaking at 1.0810v. it’s pretty odd given all these numbers.

You're questioning the condition of your HDD. That's a valid concern—checking its health is important.

The problem is identical between your 3080 and 3090, so it's not related to the GPU.

And by the way, the PC in this room just shuts off whenever the AC turns on—so the space is known for its electrical problems. It might be an internal issue inside the house, as the electric company said. That’s what happens when someone with questionable skills does work in your home. I’m not sure if it’s hardware or electricity-related now.

tested various power sources. With the 3090 it allows opening more clients, though the mouse still freezes. I achieved about 78% RAM usage on a 64GB drive—wow! For the 6600xt, both the 3080 and 3090 cause crashes, likely due to voltage or wattage issues from the original setup. I suspect the problem comes from the power supply being low quality or incorrect. If I proceed carefully, the system won’t shut down, but going too fast might trigger a shutdown because of insufficient voltage.

It isn't just the GPU that's shutting it down; I discovered that when Turbo mode activates, the screen also powers off. This suggests heavy CPU activity or frequency causes the issue.
