A month ago I started noticing unexpected system stutters. These would often lock the system and cause a brief audio glitch before returning to normal operation. Initially rare, they grew more frequent over time. The stutters weren’t limited to gaming; they also happened while browsing, watching videos, or playing music in the background.

The Event Viewer didn’t flag any errors during these interruptions. In Task Manager, I saw the 'System' process appear at the top, but CPU and memory usage stayed normal. Stutters tended to happen every 10 to 15 minutes while using the desktop, though they became more common in 1 to 2 minute intervals during gameplay.

After looking for fixes, I reinstalled my graphics driver using DDU and did a clean install. Updating through the NVIDIA app didn’t resolve the issue. This seemed to work for several weeks before it reappeared today. Since then, I haven’t changed hardware or updated drivers/OS after the driver reinstall.

If anyone has useful tips or advice, I’d really appreciate it.

Thank you!

At times, the Xbox gaming settings in the control panel trigger this issue. You can disable them and use any game recording software, which also leads to stuttering.

My son has experienced these same problems recently. They weren't present at 11 PM yesterday. The issues appear to come and go depending on his setup.
