System freezes unexpectedly during an overclocking attempt, which may indicate damage.
I attempted to boost my PC from 2012 using a MB P6X58D-E and a 3.2Ghz i7 core. Looking back, I should have abandoned that plan and been content with its stable performance. The overclocking gave decent benchmark scores, but the system would freeze eventually. After resetting the BIOS, it still freezes randomly after 15 to 50 minutes, even without stress. I wonder if the overclocking caused lasting damage. How should I figure out why these freezes occur? I still have a Windows 7 OS and don’t want to risk upgrading if I’m unsure about its stability.
Possible corruption might be the reason for the freezes. Refer to the guide at https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb...to repair missing or damaged system files and reinstall drivers.
