I experimented with my configurations and enabled XMP. I only adjusted the setting to turn it on again. After a boot cycle, I powered down and disabled XMP. Since then, my system has been experiencing crashes. I've modified the RAM speed in the BIOS, but the issue persists. Could anyone clarify what might resolve this? No extreme overclocking is needed—just a stable system would be ideal. Here are the specs you provided: Motherboard: Asus Strix Z390-E RAM: Ripjaws V 2x16Gb 3600Mhz DDR4 CPU: i7 9700k PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower Grand RGB 850W

I think your CPU won't be able to manage that RAM speed. Intel specs say 2666MHz, it can go higher but 3600MHz is a challenge. I'm considering 3000MHz and then adjusting up to 3200MHz if needed. Edit: @ShrimpBrime is correct, the 9700K can handle 4000MHz. Updated February 9, 2022 by Michael2 — honestly I was a bit confused.

This CPU supports 4000MHz memory. In reality, that's roughly Intel's optimal range.

Everything seems fine, he's pointing out the problems occur when XMP is turned off. Likely while active, but disabled, it should be the default setting and work smoothly. Two points to consider: clear CMOS (which was my initial recommendation) and run a memory test.

You can usually do this by pressing a specific key during startup—often F2, F10, or DEL depending on your device. After resetting, you may need to reconfigure settings. Regarding the delay, I apologize for the slow response; balancing work and classes is tough!

If your board lacks a visible CMOS on the back panel, there are several approaches you can try. In the BIOS, navigate to the final menu and adjust all settings. Alternatively, locate the CMOS jumpers and hold them for five seconds. You might also locate the CMOS battery, remove it, and turn off the PSU for five minutes. Pressing the PC power button can help relieve any pressure, reducing the time needed to less than five minutes.

Thank you for your feedback! It seems the issue didn't occur after resetting everything to default. You might have forgotten to adjust a setting when switching back. "Real time memory timing" was enabled.
