System freezes during the launch of games or applications in full display mode
In the past week my computer has begun to slow down significantly, dropping to around 1 frames per second when launching most games and even web browsing. I've attempted to remove and reinstall Windows updates, updated my drivers, but nothing resolved the issue. I haven't found any guidance online for this specific problem, so I'm looking for some assistance. My system details are: MSI X570 Edge Wi-Fi motherboard, Ryzen 5 3600 CPU, AMD RX 6800 XT graphics card, Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB RAM (2x8GB), 3000MHz CL15 DDR4.
The CPU and video card usage increased significantly during that process.
The CPU remains near 40% during gameplay, while the GPU reaches 93% even for basic titles when issues arise.
Did you check for GPU driver updates? Consider reverting an older version or adding the latest optional drivers that aren't suggested. While removing or adding drivers, use DDU during installations. If you have another machine with a different GPU, try swapping it out or moving it to another PC (preferably nearby) to test. If the issue continues on another system, it likely points to a faulty GPU. If it still works after changing the GPU, you probably need to reset your PC—back up data first and reinstall the OS. If problems remain after formatting, further troubleshooting is necessary. From what you mentioned, bad drivers seem to be the main cause. What were you doing when the issue began? Did it occur during gameplay or immediately after turning on the PC?
The temperatures are typical, the item is brand new, and I purchased it early in the year. I'm using a Corsair 4000D airflow.
