I'm working on installing Mac OS X 10.15 Catalina on my Mac Mini 2011, which is a year behind. The patching tool in macrumors is freezing around 5%. I have SIP turned off and the IP address is 10.13.6. I'm seeing issues but don't know why.

The cold lasts a while, especially during manual installations where it can freeze up after just an hour or two.

I’m not confident about that.
I’ll leave it overnight.

Catalina doesn't work with Mac Mini models released before late 2012. It seems you likely won't be able to update the operating system, since Apple tends to keep things stable. You might consider upgrading to an M1 model instead, which would be a significant improvement. For more details, check the Apple support page: https://support.apple.com/kb/SP803

I understand it functions with the Catalina patch. It’s clear you’re not ready for an upgrade—being 14 means you don’t require one, as it already meets your needs.
