BIOS reset successfully. Identical outcome. Proceeding with a different distribution. Previous release (18.04 LTS) functioned, but we won't revert to it.

Attempt to uninstall the Nvidia drivers first. Power on in recovery mode using the shell. To remove proprietary drivers, run "sudo apt purge *nvidia*". Verify the system boots without nomodeset.

If needed, I would attempt the development Ubuntu release... Otherwise, consider Manjaro Gnome.
