In the past two months my computer has begun to freeze before shutting down. It now requires a power-off using the power button. I've tried these steps:
- Reinstalled Windows 11
- Removed TPM from both BIOS and Windows 11 (due to SCEP enrollment issues)
- Updated BIOS to the latest version
- Ran disk and memory checks
- Used the disk checker and memory checker tools
- Enabled fast startup in cmd prompt
- Restarted and then shut down works fine
- Putting the PC to sleep doesn't cause problems
Occasionally a restart followed by shutdown resolves the issue. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
System: MSI B450 Gaming Plus MB Ryzen 7 5800X Radeon 6700XT
Hard drives may need to be added later (NvME drive and two SSDs).

On like the shutdown prompt? Like this one?: In that case it could be a waiting for a process, no idea what however Have you looked in Windows Event Viewer? I believe there is a sub category or something called system logs Maybe look at this reddit thread?

Press the power button until the device stops. Open the app you want to stop and turn it off. After restarting, use Task Manager to find any background programs in the startup list and turn them off. These apps can prevent the PC from closing properly.
