Required to create an account for this problem because it’s getting really frustrating. I’ve been using this computer for about two months, and the trouble began after adding a third monitor, which shouldn’t normally cause problems. The main problem occurs when the system tries to use maximum power (around 300 watts) but then drops sharply to about 50 watts, causing the PC to crash severely and requiring several restarts for the GPU to appear again. The first time it happened, I attempted a GPU diagnostic, repeated it, and still faced the same issue. I tested with only two or one monitor, but the problem persisted. After updating the BIOS on the motherboard, I tried again without success. I then experimented with underclocking using MSI Afterburner across a wide voltage range (-50mhz to -300mhz), testing 0% and 100% core voltages, as well as various mV settings from 750 to 850. I also attempted constant voltage mode, but it didn’t resolve the issue. I lowered the power limit from 100% to 80%, yet the crashes continued. Switching from an 850W PSU to a 1000W one didn’t fix the matter. I suspect the core GPU is the culprit. My hardware specs are listed below, and I confirmed using two separate cables for the GPU. No overclocking has ever been applied; everything remains at stock settings except during underclocking attempts. I’ve attached a photo showing the loading behavior and the typical crash points. PC details: CPU – i7-12700K, Cooler – Notcua NH-U12A, Motherboard – MSI Z690 Pro Wi-Fi, GPU – Zotac RTX 3080 Trinity, PSU – Corsair RMx 1000W (previously RMx 850W), RAM – Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 32GB 3600, Storage – 3TB total M.2. I’m reaching out to both Corsair and Zotac for their insights. I’m leaning toward a GPU problem. I’m also testing Nvidia Studio drivers to check if adjustments help.
It's odd you both have similar specs—maybe check the drivers for updates. Switching between drivers can affect stability, so ensure your BIOS is current too.
