System failures occur unpredictably, memory issues arise.
My system frequently stopped while playing Sea of Thieves. Recently it began crashing randomly, even while I was typing. Blue screen appeared saying "critical process died." Chrome saved my work, but it didn’t help much. I’m not testing in other games, but based on what I see, it probably won’t matter. It could either: 1) The game crashes after a few stutters, 2) My computer freezes and then stops, possibly with a memory error, or 3) It runs normally but shows an error about a missing file, which makes me close it or turn it off. My specs are an i5 13600k, 5.2GHz, stock RAM (no changes), Asus B660-a with 8GB Wi-Fi, GSKILL Ripjaws at 3600 CL18. My test uses a 4x16GB kit with 3600 CL18, while I have a 5.2GB kit. XMP is enabled, but I’m not using it. My MSI gaming trio RX 6800xt (also stock) runs fine, possibly auto-boosting. Power is 750W, toughpower gold, and I’m using a DUMP ANALISYS.
Memory management check:
- Any other settings need review.
- On 64-bit OS, parameter 2 holds the PFN for a corrupted page table.
- On 32-bit OS, it stores PTEs and their count.
- Debugging info: CPU usage was 546ms, IELapsed 3605ms, IO reads 22MB, writes 0MB, etc.
Bug details:
- Key values: CPU mSec 546, Elapsed 3605, IO reads 22MB, etc.
- Debug output shows CPU usage and time metrics.
- No errors written to header, progress is 100%.
- OS timestamp: 2022-05-06T12:50:00Z.
- Version 10.0.22621.1.
OS behavior:
- Stack text indicates a process named "ow-obs.exe" stopped.
- Error codes: 41790, 141, 142, etc., point to file or process issues.
- No blackbox logs detected.
Recommendations:
- Try different RAM configuration (even swapping RAM didn’t help).
- Ensure system is updated.
- Monitor memory usage with tools like Task Manager.
- Consider restarting and checking for malware.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Have you checked for a BIOS update? This B660 board requires it to work properly with the 13th generation processor.
