The system stops working right around the 10-minute mark while I'm playing. I'm using two monitors—one with the game and another with YouTube on Chrome. When it crashes, only the screens go dark, but the background video keeps playing and the PC restarts after a few minutes if I press power. I think the issue might be related to the graphics card. I changed the CPU from 9700k to 14700k, but everything else stayed the same except the motherboard and RAM. At the time of the change, nothing happened. It took about five days for problems to appear. The motherboard has an 8+4 pin I/O only setup, and the CPU was in fast tuning overclock mode. XMP profile is enabled. I tried reconnecting all cables and everything seems fine now, assuming the graphics are updated. The GPU seems to have had problems before, and with newer models the temperature stays around 60°C on the CPU and 80°C on the GPU. If I set the graphics to 90%, it resolved the issue, but it still happens with the 14700k model. Asus PRIME Z790 G.Skill DDR5 6000 3080 ftw3 12G—need HEPL
Reviewing the Windows Event Viewer under System logs reveals frequent 'nvlddmkm stopped responding and successfully recovered' alerts. These indicate Nvidia driver issues, often resulting in a blank screen. The main suspect is likely the GPU, though the power supply unit could also be involved. After a previous experience with a 3080ti, a faulty PSU was identified as the root cause. Removing unnecessary components and resetting settings—such as disabling CPU overclocking and turning off XMP—can help. Adjusting RAM settings to default may resolve problems, though it might affect performance.
Ensure your motherboard BIOS is updated to the most recent release. Visit the Asus website (manufacturer of motherboards) and download the appropriate BIOS file for your system.
Initially I verified the cable everything was fine, but after five days without any setup it worked perfectly. I turned on XMP and used EZ Fast Unig.
Updated the information regarding the current status. 1) Bios failed to function. 2) XMP disabled did not resolve the issue. Ran a CPU crash test via CMD, identified an error, and resolved it. Performed a clean installation using Dism commands: check health, scan health, restore health. After mounting the GPU vertically with the Lian Li mount and restoring normal settings, the motherboard had 8+4 pins and all were connected properly. I believe this likely fixed the problem. If the CPU was bookended or similar during testing, it might have caused instability, but after upgrading both CPU and motherboard, crashes no longer occur. I will keep testing and follow up on any further updates. Thank you to anyone who can assist.
