System failure during high demand PC malfunctions when under stress
Hey, I noticed some issues with your gaming setup lately. Your specs look like this: CPU - Ryzen 5 3600, GPU - 3060 MSI Gaming X, motherboard b450, Wi-Fi Aorus pro. You're using a 650W PSU with Fractal Design and an 80+ Gold case.
A few days ago, when you started Forza Horizon 5, both screens went black but the PC kept working. After running OCCT tests, the CPU and memory checks passed, but the GPU and power tests caused the monitors to shut down. You tried swapping your GPU for an EVGA 2060 Super, but the problem persisted—OCCT crashes now, and games still crash on boot. You changed the PSU to a Seasonic 750W 80+ Gold, but it didn’t help. You also re-applied thermal paste, updated drivers, cleaned everything, and checked cables, yet the issue remains.
Your last thought was the motherboard, but you don’t have a spare. Could anyone suggest possible fixes before replacing it? Thanks!
I didn't mention any overheating issues. In the OCCT tests, the CPU reached its highest level at 76, and the GPU temperatures peaked near 77 under full load before crashes began.
What are your CPU Cooler and RAM GB, Mhz, model? Was your motherboard BIOS in an XMP are enabled?
Under heavy load, anything failing with a 650w PSU seems like the issue. With RTX cards, I’m not concerned… likely the power draw spikes are the problem.
I had a 750w power supply available and attempted it, but it didn’t work. After upgrading to a 1000w unit, the issue persisted.
You seem uncertain about my response. Could you clarify what you're referring to?
