I recently encountered an odd and unwanted situation when returning home and finding my PC unable to boot. About six hours prior, everything seemed normal, but now the Windows loading screen isn’t appearing and the system doesn’t start after 30 minutes of waiting. I can still reach BIOS, see the connected drive, and access troubleshooting options. The chkdsk /f command worked on the Windows drive, and all directories are present. The startup repair tool isn’t resolving the problem, and safe boot remains inaccessible. No updates have been installed yet. Any advice for fixing this without wiping the drive? I have a thumb drive with the Windows utility and a second PC available just in case. Hope this helps!
Verify if any devices were connected recently that might block startup. Execute "bcdedit" to retrieve boot settings and check "bootrec /ScanOs" for installed Windows versions. If it detects an installation not listed in the current BCD, consider repairing the BCD using the provided guide. The BCD may also reside on a hidden volume on your storage device.
