He got a new PC that powers on but the display remains inactive and the keyboard won’t activate. I’ve tried re-seating the CMOS, swapping the RAM, and booting without the GPU—it still doesn’t work. There’s a yellow indicator next to the RAM that seems problematic. (The monitor is properly connected to the GPU.)

Identify the exact motherboard specifications, processor type, graphics card, and RAM configuration. Refer to the motherboard manual for details on the yellow indicator, which typically signals a RAM problem. If possible, attempt a boot using only one RAM stick. For BIOS-related concerns, consider updating the BIOS if supported by your board.

I attempted to turn it on with a single stick, but the same problem occurred. The PC is used second-hand, so there’s no official manual available.

You can locate the guide for each board on ASUS' site, which is why I'm requesting the exact model. There are several B560 boards from Asus available: https://www.asus.com/motherboards-compon...pec=136051. As mentioned, yellow usually points to a RAM problem, so if neither stick functions independently, a hardware fault is likely. You can test with compatible RAM from another system to see if the issue persists. If it still works, the problem is with the RAM. It's also possible the CPU isn't making good contact (like bent pins) or the memory controller is faulty, though this is less common.

I located the manual but didn’t discover any useful information. It seems the RAM could be faulty, though the PC wouldn’t power on if there were a CPU issue.

Lights activating indicates power is being supplied, not necessarily that the system is operational. It shows components are receiving energy. The issue varies—if the memory controller fails or its contacts aren't solid, the PC won't boot properly (like failing to enter BIOS), though other parts still get power, causing fans to speed up and lights to illuminate, but functionality is limited. If the CPU is intact but memory traces are faulty, the CPU can't access RAM, preventing proper communication. Without a POST display, it's unclear if the CPU is working or responding correctly.
