I recently acquired a new 1440p display to swap in for my main screen and connected it using a displayport cable. Since the installation, whenever I attempt to start the PC from sleep or even occasionally when powering it on, the case’s power indicator lights up, the monitor appears to activate but doesn’t show any content, and the fans increase their speed significantly while the system fails to boot. In contrast, when the PC boots normally, both lights illuminate and the processing indicator flashes, with fans running at a noticeably quieter level. To resolve this, I usually power down the machine by pressing the power button, then restart and hope for a successful boot—sometimes needing 7 to 10 cycles. Once it starts, I may encounter a warning like “Computer failed to boot several times, Press F2 or ESC to enter UEFI settings” on the motherboard before Windows loads. This problem only appeared after replacing my main monitor with the new 1440p model; it didn’t happen when both 1080p screens were connected via HDMI. Sometimes, when the PC is in sleep mode, both lights stay off (the power light flashes briefly) until I try to wake it, at which point they turn back on. I’ve tried various solutions: reinstalling drivers, adjusting power settings, using a different cable, changing startup preferences, modifying power plans, swapping out the cable, disabling sleep mode, testing with another monitor, and performing hardware tweaks like booting without GPU or reseating connectors. None resolved the issue. I’m unsure what to do next, having searched extensively without success. I’m contemplating giving up sleep mode entirely but prefer not to because it often leads to data loss when I leave the PC unattended during study sessions. As I’ve noticed, setting “Time until Sleep” to never works—my screen turns off after 10 minutes of inactivity. When I refresh it by typing or moving the mouse, my primary monitor lights up first, followed by the secondary one, which appears horizontally aligned with the wall. The NVIDIA control panel displays a G-Sync compatible setting, and FxSound adjusts audio output to the main display. It seems the main screen is constantly being “reconnected” each time it powers on, rather than simply restarting. Any advice would be appreciated. Please let me know if I missed anything. Specs: Windows 11 i5-4690k RTX 3060ti, LG 32" UltraGear QHD 165Hz HDR 10, 32GB RAM, 1440p display.
