System fails to start and shows no screen because it was forcibly restarted after freezing on the Linux Mint logo.
Hello everyone, I’m dealing with a challenging problem on my PC and hope someone can assist me in identifying the issue. Here’s what’s happening: I left my computer running for about six hours while watching lectures. When I came back, I tried connecting my Bluetooth headphones by inserting the adapter, but it didn’t get recognized. After restarting, the system froze when booting into Linux Mint. I forced a shutdown, but now the PC is behaving oddly. Below are the key observations:
1. System Status: The case lights show the PC is on, fans are spinning, but the keyboard keys don’t respond (Caps Lock and Num Lock off). The monitor stays blank with no output. It doesn’t appear to boot at all—no BIOS screen, no GRUB, nothing visible.
2. Actions Taken: I removed the GPU and tried using integrated graphics; RAM was reset by removing and reinserting sticks in different slots. I also removed the CMOS battery, waited, then reinserted it to reset BIOS settings, but that didn’t help. I performed a full power cycle—powering off, unplugging the cable, waiting a minute, then reconnecting.
3. Additional Checks: All cables and monitors seem properly connected. The PC appears powered on, but there’s no display or response. There are no BIOS/UEFI messages or POST beeps. The keyboard still doesn’t register any input, possibly indicating a failure to pass the POST check. I’m running both Windows and Linux Mint, using GRUB as the boot manager, and have tested everything from minimal hardware setups.
My suspicion is a motherboard problem, though I’m not certain. If anyone has insights or recommendations on what might be causing this, I’d really appreciate your help!
Thank you in advance.
