I assembled a computer roughly seven months ago without any problems. Today, when I tried to turn it on, it brought me to the BIOS menu. I restarted it three times hoping the Windows Repair would appear, but it never did. I realized my SSD wasn’t being recognized as a boot device. I connected a USB drive with a Windows installer to attempt a repair via that method, but nothing worked. Then I decided to follow the Windows installation steps to see if it would detect the SSD, which also failed. Eventually, I removed the SSD and reinserted it to confirm placement, still without detection. The model is an ASUS Prime B560M-A motherboard with a 1TB Crucial NVMe M.2 SSD.

If the BIOS and a USB install ISO fail to recognize it, it’s likely the device is nonfunctional. The most reliable method is testing on another machine or using a USB-to-M.2 adapter to confirm the port works.

The board features 2 m.2 slots; attempt the second one. Occasionally, a BIOS update resolves these problems, though it's infrequent.
