Once in a while my computer would fail to boot unexpectedly, I didn’t do anything special just attempted to start it. It won’t even show up in BIOS. I’ve tested various cables, swapped out the GPU, CPU, RAM, and PSU, but nothing works. When powering it on, I can’t turn it off except through the PSU. Could the motherboard be the issue? Also, my GPU fans aren’t turning on at all.

Your components: GPU – RX 6600 XT, CPU – Ryzen 7 5700X, Motherboard – Asus Prime B450M-K II, PSU – Aerocool Lux 550W, RAM – 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200MHZ.

You mentioned having a dead power supply with an F tier rating. It’s not even worth returning. Just swap it out and discard the old unit.

You can try connecting a multimeter to test the PSU output voltage or look for any error lights on the PSU.

The simplest option is swapping it and letting the tower function.

Could the issue stem from the motherboard itself?

You're safe from a risky power supply unit. Do you have another motherboard available for testing? If yes, go ahead and try it. The safest option would be to replace the PSU itself—preferably something in the C or higher tier.

I don’t have a backup board to test. I tried using a paperclip on the PSU, and the fan was working. Right now, I don’t have the funds to replace either the PSU or the motherboard.

This indicates it can start up, not that it’s completely inactive. You likely don’t need a backup power supply unless you’re short on options. It seems the motherboard might still be under the return merchandise authorization period.
