System experiencing random restart or black screen issue.
Hello, After upgrading my system recently, I faced an unexpected reboot during gameplay. Details: screen went dark, audio stopped, all USB devices lost power (rgb unlits), a reboot menu appeared, but the main display didn’t restore. To fix it, I forced a restart by pressing the power button and the system booted again. New PC specs include Ryzen 3600, ASRock B450 Pro-4f 16GBx2 at 3200mhz, RX 6700XT, one HDD, two SSDs, six fans (4 RGB), and a 650W PSU. Interesting observations: I played World of Warcraft for two weeks using Linux as the main OS, yet crashes only occurred on Windows 10/11. Steps I took: Checked Event Viewer, which showed no activity around the time of failure (~30 minutes before crash). I also downclocked the card, but results are unclear. PSU specs from online calculators indicated power draw below 500W, suggesting a possible weak unit. What are your thoughts? Edited September 8, 2024 by ThomasTheHippo Fixed missing time unit
I experienced a comparable problem with an Nvidia GPU, and it seemed the PSU was the culprit. It provided sufficient power even though it wasn't intended for that load. Could you tell me which PSU model you're using?
