System experiencing crashes.
There seems to be a minor problem that might be fixed easily. I’m sure the ASUS Crosshair viii dark hero WiFi 5900x 4x 16GB team group (white argb) 16CL at 3600MHz is a simple adjustment. I bought two kits with the same model, but I’m not overly concerned about overclocking. I don’t feel confident about risking damage to my RAM or something similar. The BIOS is updated to version 4004, and on 02/22/22 the system crashes when set to 3600MHz. If I leave it alone, it only runs at 2400MHz, which is the DDR4 limit. After tweaking the settings, I get tired of changing CMOS and wish someone could suggest better BIOS settings for these models to reach around 3600MHz. It works fine at 2400MHz, but I’m sure my daughters’ builds with similar specs can also run at that speed. Neither MSI nor Asus have these models in their QVL, though other versions from the same brand do. There should be a straightforward fix. Should I just manually set the timings as shown on the motherboard? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
It worked perfectly! I followed your suggestions and didn’t use 3600. The VMs are now running very clean, and the 16GB RAM is a big improvement. Thank you so much for your help—it’s such a straightforward fix!
