Hi, your computer has been experiencing random crashes recently. The event viewer reported a kernel power unexpected shutdown error. You’ve tried various online fixes suggesting software issues, but none resolved the problem. Checked all cables and connections, yet the issue persisted. Many forums mentioned a failing power supply, which prompted you to purchase a new one. Installation didn’t solve the problem either. Temperatures of all components are normal. Recently, a game started causing crashes whenever you switch tabs or open something new. This suggests a potential RAM or CPU issue, as it only shuts down during intense activity. Since you can’t afford endless spending, you’re left wondering what might be causing this behavior. It could be related to RAM, CPU, or even power delivery.

Current BIOS updates for your motherboard? Are you using XMP or DOCP settings?

I verified the temperatures and everything seemed normal, nothing unusually high. XMP is active, which helps reach the 3200MHz clock speed for my RAM. I’m not entirely confident about the DOCP setting or the most recent BIOS for the motherboard. I’m currently at work, so I’ll check again when I get back home.

I updated the mobile drivers and found xmp was actually off, so I turned it on. I haven’t had much time for thorough testing, but my computer didn’t crash during the troubleshooting steps before. I’m not sure everything is perfect yet, but I hope this fixed the issue. Thanks for your assistance.

It seems the issue is still recurring despite driver updates. Stability improved slightly, but another factor is likely responsible. Consider testing different configurations or components next.

They mentioned the drivers, but I wanted to know more about the bios. I ran the OCCT CPU test and checked the monitor temps. Also tried Unigine Heaven and watched the GPU temps.

Hi, yes I meant Bios sorry. I’ve been tracking temperatures with hwmonitor and gpu-z. After the crash, I’m seeing a WHEA error in the Event Viewer: “A fatal hardware error has occurred…” The APIC ID is 9, which changes often. I found some discussions online about similar problems. I disabled c-state for the processor in Bios, but it didn’t help and I reverted it. Also, I’m seeing many LSA errors right before the WHEA-Logger event. It’s unclear if they’re connected. I searched but didn’t find much info on those either. Did you encounter this before?

Sure, I can remove the CPU, inspect the pins, send it back, and provide a fresh paste. It looks like one or more of your pins might be bent.

It sounds like you're looking at a weekend project. After some research, it seems many others face similar issues with various fixes. Adjusting CPU core voltages appears to be a common solution, as they might be triggering crashes. The number next to the APIC ID indicates which core is involved. I'll experiment with the voltage settings first, then check the processor if needed. Thanks again for your support!
